What is related to fracture sequelae and infection consultation?
After a fracture happens, different outcomes can occur. In the best of the cases, the treated fracture will properly heal, but sometimes, the bone does not heal correctly, because a lack of biologic stimuli, sometimes lack of stability and in other cases, infection.
When might I need a fracture followup and sequelae consultation?
Whenever you have or had a fracture, healed or not healed, you should keep visiting your doctor until discharge.
If you moved town, or want a second opinion, this consultation will forward to find the best option of treatment for your fracture sequelae.
Here are common conditions that might require an orthopedic consultation; regular fracture follow up; implant removal; non union; infected non union or post traumatic arthritis and a second opinion

What happens during fracture followup consultation ?
A followup consultation involves several key steps aimed at diagnosing, treating the sequelae.
Starting with a detailed medical history, previous x-ray files and tests.
A personal tailored plan to solve the problem will be planned.
Sometimes the treatment represents one or more surgeries, aiming to treat biologic failure, mechanical failure or infection; Requiring implant removal, directed antibiotic therapy (in case of need) and finally a bone reconstruction and physical therapy with rehabilitation.
